"Other sacrifices that Gen Z and millennial employees say they’d make in exchange for a four-day workweek include working longer hours (48%), changing jobs or companies (35%), working weekends or evenings (27%) and even taking a pay cut (13%).

The Bankrate data is a sign that younger generations are prioritizing work-life balance and “recognizing that flexibility itself is a job perk,” Foster says."

How so? It doesn’t seem too off to me that 1/4 of people would prefer working, say Wed-Sat (4 days) over Mon-Fri (5 days) I’d happily sacrifice a Saturday off in exchange for two weekdays off, all else equal.

Honestly having weekends off sucks. I used to use my days off to go to the bank and other such chores. My last job I got weekends off and I absolutely hated trying to plan stuff around my work day.

Weekend night life also sucks it’s all far too loud. I’d much rather a quiet pub on a Wednesday evening for a couple hands of cards.

I guess it depends how social you are. Having Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays off might not be so bad.

What a load of bull shit. I just want a job that doesn’t waste my time with managers and work that isn’t properly scoped and deadlines that are unrealistic. We waste so much time going to meetings and talking about the work we need to do. Fuck this I’m not giving up pay ill just get my job done in 5 hours then do what I want for the rest of the day.

Nope, try getting into IT and working for the state. You literally will live like this. Benefits, guaranteed paycheck.

I know a woman who regularly goes on 2-3 hour walks during the workday. Every single day. She’s been doing it since she was hired. Never been an issue.

We’ll just need you to train this AI to work on Friday. No big deal, just make sure it can do everything you do.

Probably people who have worked warehouse jobs. Amazon’s regular schedule for warehouse workers has been 4 days a week for the last decade or so and other places like FedEx have similar schedules. Getting your 40+ hours in and having an extra day off is a game changer for jobs in that pay range
